TAKOMA PARK, MARYLAND • SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND

Features: Q— Photos and Inquiry by Julie Wiatt

What's your opinion of the Voice?
(April 2007)

We'd love to hear your answer to this month's Q. Send us your response by clicking this link. Be sure to write "Q: Opinion" in the field marked "article for comment." Thanks!

Denise Lyons

Denise Lyons: "I love the paper. It's just so informative. You have everything in it. It's such a diverse type of paper. I can't think of anything off hand I'd add; maybe I'd like to see more about schools."

Slava Feshchenko

Slava Feshchenko: "I like the Voice. It's a very democratic paper. I started my business in Takoma Park and the people are very democratic too. I think the Voice really is a voice for the people. People understand this in Takoma Park and Silver Spring, and read the paper more and more.

Eva Cappelletti-ChaoEva Cappelletti-Chao: "The Voice seems to have a lot of what I want out of a community newspaper. I get a kick out of the cartoon, so indicative of Takoma Park. I appreciate the listings of what's going on, especially for children. I like the history column and the Talk of Takoma. I can't think what I'd change. It's a good paper and I appreciate getting it."

Sol Braithwaite PrenskySol Braithwaite Prensky: "The pictures are always really good. I think it would be good to have more local high school sports stuff."

Hirdesh Matta

Hirdesh Matta: "The cover is nice, the community involvement is nice. I'd like to see more sports and national news."

Sam Husseini

Sam Husseini: "I'm not familiar with the Voice; I live in DC, but I'm somewhat of a political junkie. Around DC everybody acts like they're in Boise, Idaho. They don't act like they're in proximity of institutions of power, which provides opportunities to ask hard questions. That's what I'd like to see, in the Voice and everywhere, people asking hard questions of power. That's what I try to do with my website, WashingtonStakeout.com.

Mostafa Balghitio

Mostafa Balghitio: "The Voice in my opinion is one of the best community newspapers anywhere -- it's informative, educational, it's fun. It's probably as well done as any major publication, yet it's a community paper. I have a lot of admiration for it and for the people who put it together.

…I'm from a country without freedom of the press--Morocco. Every country should have papers like the Voice. Corporate media presents the corporate view. For nuggets of truth, go to a paper like the Voice."
