Features: Q— Photos and Inquiry by Julie Wiatt

What is your opinion of global warming?

Jerome Brisbane

Jerome Brisbane [left]: "I really think we as human beings need to make an effort to make things better in terms of the cars we're driving and the energy we use. I know that in DC Pepco still uses coal in its power plant. In terms of future generations, if you want to bring children into the world you don't want to make them be doomed by the actions we take today."

Walter Penney

Walter Penney [right]: "It's coming and it's here and it's only going to get worse. So prepare for a hell of a summer. You can imagine from the weather we've been having recently--from 32 to 75 degrees--that summer is going to be ridiculously hot."

Maria Vieira, and Jo Ann Garcia

Maria Vieira [far left]: "It's scary. All the stuff I've been reading, and all these weather disturbances around the world -- it's scary to think of what it will be like 20-30 years from now."

Jo Ann Garcia [left]: "What more can you say or do about it? Unless you don't believe in it-- everybody who believes it's happening feels pretty powerless. As an individual I can't do much about it."
Maria: "It hasn't even snowed yet in Moscow."
Jo Ann: "But it did snow in Mexico."
Maria: "The last customer is a marine biologist. He has been in Antarctica and seen the ice shelf melting."

The Gordon Family

Jesse Gordon [right, with Lily]: "My opinion about global warming is that we as individuals each need to take greater responsibility for t he imprint we make on the earth."

Glennon Gordon [far right, with Nola]: "My hope is that the recent bombardment of media coverage on global warming will make people more aware."

Valery Caesar

Valery Ceasar [left]: "I think that we've been very preoccupied with the economy and the war and so many other issues that we've really neglected global warming. Global warming is the 500-pound gorilla that everybody knows is in the room, but nobody really knows how to address it. It's really important for us as a country and member of the international community to start working very diligently to find a way to resolve it now. You know it's a problem but it's so overwhelming no one knows what to do."
