my voice houses a family
a yellow house surrounded by sunlight
for so long I tired to undo what was done
to no avail
like the poor exhausted dog
now collapsed on the front porch steps
come in, I sing,
for food and water
the sunlight already here
my whole body built for trying
and for coming home to itself
made to seek, made to dissolve
voice wrapped warm
in a scarf of yellow flowers
did you? did you
come here alone?
did you come with your arms full of presents?
with your head blooming clusters of yellow flowers?
in the air full of pollen
voice swirling
down into the core awake
thank you in the garden
next to the hyacinths
my whole body dropped
toward the ground
sustained
